Pamela Parmenter

Pamela Parmenter is a 1973 graduate of Slippery Rock State College (PA) with a BS in Education, and of Ashford University in 2012 with a Master of Arts in Education (early childhood education).  Pam was director and teacher in a preschool serving children birth through 12 years of age for 6 years that became the first for-profit subsidized childcare program in Manatee County.  After serving as a trainer of Florida’s introductory childcare worker training courses, she became the Director of Education and Director of Quality Assurance for Resource Connection for Kids.  Through her 16 years in this position, she assessed and supervised the assessment of quality in contracted child care programs; supervised the pre- and post-assessment of child progress in these programs; supervised a behavior management training program, a mobile resource professional development program, and an infant-toddler quality enhancement program; and maintained responsibility for 14 of those years for the state training coordination and provision.  After a hiatus of nearly three years with family responsibilities, Pam has worked with the Early Learning Coalition of Manatee County for nearly thirteen years and is the Director of Provider Quality, supervising a team of early childhood professionals who measure and help to build the quality of teacher-child interactions and who coach providers to implement with fidelity the Nemours Reading BrightStart! Curriculum. Enhancing the quality of early childhood programming has been Pam’s responsibility and passion for many years.  As Past President of the Florida Association for the Education of Young Children, Pam promotes quality early learning experiences throughout Florida. She is also a past president of the Manatee County Branch of the American Association of University Women (AAUW) and is currently President-Elect of the North Manatee Kiwanis Club.
